As part of our mission to strengthen the adoption of high-performance computing, high-performance data analysis, and artificial intelligence across society, HPC Serbia has established several collaborations with public sector institutions in Serbia. These partnerships aim to support the development of advanced digital services, enable data-driven decision-making, and facilitate the application of HPC and AI technologies in areas of national importance such as healthcare, public administration, and innovation policy. Among these collaborations, we are particularly proud of our cooperation with the Office for Information Technologies and eGovernment of the Republic of Serbia, which plays a key role in driving the country’s digital transformation and the development of national AI infrastructure.

Head of the Group for Development of Artificial Intelligence at the Office for Information Technologies and eGovernment of the Republic of Serbia, Bogdan Stešević, gave an overview of the first National AI Platform, on which numerous artificial intelligence solutions are being developed in Serbia. We spoke to Bogdan during the EuroCC4SEE 2025 Workshop in Belgrade. At that time, the AI platform consisted of a NVIDIA cluster based on four DGX A100 systems with 32 GPUs. The platform was upgraded in the meantime.

Bogdan explained that in a very short time, the first AI platform gained around 400 users from a total of 76 entities. Half of them come from academia, while the other half represent the business sector. He provided an example of a successful application of this AI platform developed in cooperation with the Institute for Oncology and Radiology of the Republic of Serbia. They developed the software that detects suspicious changes in mammograms and generates priority patient lists accordingly. This software, which has the potential to improve the work of healthcare institutions, will be made available to other radiologists in Serbia.
