The hybrid event GENE/GENE-X user training and tutorial will be hosted by the Max Planck Institute of Plasma Physics and the Max Planck Computing and Data Facility. It is organized in partnership with the Plasma-PEPSC CoE and SIDE, ENCCS, the German and Swedish National Competence Centres for High-Performance Computing from 12-16 January 2026 in Garching near Munich, Germany, and will also be accessible online.

This advanced, comprehensive hands-on training introduces two Eulerian gyrokinetic plasma turbulence simulation codes: GENE and GENE-X. These codes are designed to solve the five-dimensional gyrokinetic equations that describe microturbulence in magnetized plasmas. Although they share a common physics basis, each code is optimized for different modeling requirements and computational approaches.

The event is aimed at plasma turbulence specialists and PhD and Master's students who want to learn related GENE/GENE-X simulation skills.
